Powdercoat colour: The final touch that makes all the difference.

When it comes to stairs and balustrades, strength and safety come first. But the finish? That’s where the style comes in.

At Apexa, we’ve seen first-hand how the right powdercoat can tie together an architectural vision or provide that subtle finish builders appreciate for its simplicity and durability. We manufacture every staircase and balustrade to perform—but we also make sure they look the part.
Here’s what to know when making your choice.
Whether you’re after a bold centrepiece or a subtle finish that complements your materials, powdercoat colour is a detail worth getting right.

What is powdercoating?

Powdercoating is more than just a colour, it’s a durable, protective finish applied to aluminium and steel surfaces. Unlike liquid paint, it’s applied electrostatically and cured under heat, forming a tough outer layer that resists scratches, UV damage and corrosion.

All our metal components, external balustrades, steel spine staircases, privacy screens and handrails are powdercoated in-house using premium Dulux® or Interpon® finishes. That means greater control, faster turnaround, and colours that last.

Why powdercoat colour matters.

Powdercoat isn’t just about protection, it’s also about presentation.

When you’re choosing a staircase or balustrade, you want it to tie in with the rest of your project. That might mean a sharp Satin Black to contrast against light timber treads. Or something a little softer like Pearl White, Anotec Silver Grey, or Monument to blend in with your overall palette.

We offer the full range of Dulux® and Interpon powdercoat colours, so you can match your stairs or balustrades to your facade, window frames, fencing, or other architectural features.

Most popular powdercoat colours we see.

Here are a few Dulux® powdercoat colours that consistently deliver strong results across residential and commercial builds:

  • Black – Clean, bold and modern. Pairs well with timber or concrete.
  • Anotec Silver Grey – Sleek and architectural, often used in urban developments.
  • Monument® – A go-to for external balustrades with a neutral, earthy tone.
  • Pearl White – Soft, fresh and often used in coastal or minimalist interiors.
  • Anotec Bronze – For a high-end architectural look with a bit of depth and warmth.

Where powdercoat colour comes into play.

We use powdercoating across a range of products including:

  • Steel Spine Staircases
  • External Aluminium Balustrades
  • Privacy Screens & Pool Fencing
  • Custom handrails and brackets

It’s all part of delivering a product that’s not only strong and compliant but visually integrated into your project.

And because we manufacture and powdercoat all components in our own facility, you don’t need to worry about delays or miscommunications between suppliers.

Built to last, visually and structurally.

We know how much pressure there is to get a build right the first time. So when you choose a finish, you want something that’ll last. Powdercoat provides:

  • Superior corrosion resistance
  • UV resistance (great for exposed balconies)
  • No peeling or flaking over time
  • Easy cleaning and maintenance
